Making Atlanta a Top 5 Tech Hub
We know the power of our city to produce unrivaled talent, nurture entrepreneurial and corporate innovation, and create and develop the leaders of tomorrow. Atlanta is nationally recognized as the tech capital of the South, but we’ve set our sights higher — our goal is to become a top 5 technology and entrepreneurship hub in the nation.
A Catalyst for Action
A report published by the Boston Consulting Group outlined four key areas that Atlanta must address in order to achieve this goal:
- Increasing recognition as a desirable, internationally relevant city.
- Facilitating commercialization coordination across Georgia’s system of higher education.
- Scaling up infrastructure and throughput capabilities of the city’s network of incubators, accelerators, and venture capital funds.
- Targeting efforts to ensure equity of success for minority and women founders.

The Role of Colleges and Universities
Atlanta’s higher education institutions play a critical role in realizing the city’s potential as a top tech and entrepreneurship hub. Through a partnership with the City of Atlanta, the city’s leading colleges and universities are uniting to strengthen existing entrepreneurship programs and develop opportunities to share their unique resources across the ecosystem. The Atlanta Collegiate Entrepreneurship Syndicate (ACES) aims to create:
- An inclusive culture that provides Atlanta residents with resources and opportunities to launch new companies or develop new technologies.
- Access for founders to high-quality talent, capital, and customer networks.
- A well-connected ecosystem offering incubation, mentorship, and support services for startups.
- A dynamic group of student entrepreneurs using their ideas to make a positive impact in their communities and beyond.
